Rev. Jeremiah Sanghyun Shim was called to be the fourth pastor of the Village Korean Fellowship and joined the Village community in June 2022 with his wife Minkyung Seo (Michelle) and two daughters Hayoon (Haven), Nayoon (Eirene).
During his college days, he received a calling from God and decided to give his life to God as a full-time minister. He studied theology at Presbyterian University and Theological Seminary (M.Div., Th.M) in Korea and Fuller Seminary (D.Min) in the U.S.A. Jeremiah deeply understood the kingdom of God through the journey of studying theology at the seminary. Also he experienced how the Kingdom of God is actually accomplished and expanded through the church while spending four years with young adults in a Korean church and three and a half years at an immigrant church in L.A.
As Jeremiah joined the Village with the vision of a missional, multicultural community in Christ, with the Villagers, he was given the privilege and joy of experiencing the diversity and beauty of the kingdom of God. In the Word and Spirit of God, he is hoping for a beautiful journey with the Korean Diaspora in Portland.
