Village Korean Director

Kwang Kim

Kwang is the Director of Korean ministry and has been on staff at Village since 2018. Born into a Christian family in South Korea, he and his wife, Hyunjoo, had a vision of going to China as missionaries. They moved to the US in 1992 to be trained and prepared as missionaries. They first started attending Village as congregants in 1997 while Kwang studied at Western Seminary in the Doctor of Missiology program.  In 2000, Kwang and Hyunjoo left for China as missionaries, along with their four children: Young, Jeremy, Samuel, and Daniel. They joined OMF to work with the Mien people group, an unreached ethnic group in SE Asia. Kwang first served as a Strategy Coordinator for the team then went on to be a field Facilitator.

After 18 years as missionaries, Kwang and Hyunjoo felt led to return and serve at Village Church, their home church that commissioned them to the mission field almost two decades prior. He was invited to serve as the Director of Korean ministry under the leadership of Pastor Paul. He has a long history of working in multicultural settings and enjoys serving such contexts.

“I have lived and worked with people from different cultures in a multicultural organization for about 20 years.  God has continued to lead me to work in ministry settings where I can learn, understand, and appreciate the diversity of different cultures to glorify the God who has created different cultures.”
